 Parents as professionals

Parents know their children and their community better than the professionals who work with them. It makes sense to harness the skills and talents of parents in a way which encourages equality and raises self-esteem.

Many parents are professionals in their own right whilst others have low self-worth and self-esteem. This course puts all on level playing field by seeing parents and professionals as people first.

Who should attend

Parents and professionals who work with children and families.

Aims of the course

To encourage equality and raise self-esteem amongst parents and professionals who work with children and families.

What does it involve?

  • Recognising the importance of parent and practitioner skills and expertise to enhance a child's early life experiences.
  • Working together to identify individual and team skills
  • Building a 'Resource Bank'' of individual and team skills
  • Planning for the future.
