FAQ

Practitioner or Pedagogue?

When a Health Practitioner and an Early Years Practitioner combine their knowledge about a child and family they build up a more detailed picture of needs.

Practitioners from all organisations, agencies and groups who work with children and families are getting together around the child to make sure that all is well.

As they share their knowledge and expertise with each other will they become Pedagogues?

The pedagogue

A child's care, health and well-being, learning and development are inseparable to the pedagogue.

The Pedagogue is trained to take an holistic view of the child and is concerned therefore, with the development of the whole child: body, mind, spirit and creativity.

The practitioner

A Practitioner tends to be trained to support particular areas of a child's learning or development without necessarily taking the whole picture into consideration.
