'Early Years Stories for the Foundation Stage' is published in eight chapters, each with a topic, a simple story and theme, suggestions for encouraging recall and interaction and relevant games and activities for each foundational area of development. The author’s matter-of-fact, methodical approach to the layout and content of this book will benefit those people for whom storytelling is not a natural art; by turning a simple story in to a foundational learning project it facilitates the learning of skills to develop enquiring minds. The somewhat traditional illustrations and age-old songs and nursery rhymes will not suit all tastes but creative and inspired minds could stretch and mould this book to fit our cultural tapestry.

The author’s generous inclusion of photocopiable material gives added value to the resource for anyone needing a practical aid for story telling.
